CDYC Break-Out Participants:

Here is the handout from our break-out session. Feel free to contact me with questions, comments, or for help. At the end you will find the links I gave you to the on-line spiritual gifts inventory and the personality inventories.

1. God gives believers two kinds of service:
     Individual--unique, specific to you.
     Corporate--for all believers.

It is when you work out the corporate tasks--love your neighbor, love God through worship, give generously, speak kindly--that God shows you how He's created you to do the individual tasks He has for you and do them well.

2. We will look at your S.H.A.P.E. (thanks Rick Warren!)

S=Spiritual Gifts
H=Heart
A=Abilities
P=Personality
E=Experiences

Ephesians 2:10 NLT:  For we are God’s masterpiece. He has created us anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things he planned for us long ago.

 3. Abilities: the things you are good at and have been all your life. They can be used for anyone and every person has them.

1 Peter 4:10 CEV:  Each of you has been blessed with one of God’s many wonderful gifts to be used in the service of others. So use your gift well.

4.  Spiritual Gifts: the things you are good at, given to you at your spiritual birth, that allow you to be part of building and serving God's kingdom. Only born-again believers have them and they are to be used for other believers.

Four main passages discussing spiritual gifts: 1 Corinthians 12, 1 Corinthians 14, Romans 12:4-8, Ephesians 4:11-13

Ephesians 4:11-12 CEB: He gave some apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers. His purpose was to equip God’s people for the work of serving and building up the body of Christ...

80/20 Rule:

5. Personality: your built-in preferences.

Psalm 139:14 NLT: Thank you for making me so wonderfully complex! Your workmanship is marvelous—how well I know it.

6. Heart/Passions: the causes, issues, and interests you care about deeply.

Galatians 6:4-5 MSG: Make a careful exploration of who you are and the work you have been given, and then sink yourself into that. Don't be impressed with yourself. Don't compare yourself with others. Each of you must take responsibility for doing the creative best you can with your own life.

7. Experiences: the experiences in your life that are unique to you; good, bad, or even painful.

Ephesians 1:11-12 MSG: It's in Christ that we find out who we are and what we are living for. Long before we first heard of Christ and got our hopes up, he had his eye on us, had designs on us for glorious living, part of the overall purpose he is working out in everything and everyone.

8. What about YOU? What is YOUR worth?
